This summer went by way too quickly for us! It was so busy with people visiting and family reunions and camping trips. It seemed we had very little time around these things for us to do our normal summer things. But these are the things we managed:
- Brooke did cheer over the summer again. She loves doing cheer in the summer. We always do it with the Legacy Center, and at the end of the summer, she had her showcase.
- Sarah and I managed to do a couple of temple exchanges. Our kids liked playing with each other while one of us went to the temple. It's nice that we can go to the temple once a month and leave our kids with the other.
- We had the usual wave of birthday parties. Brooke went to Claire's birthday party and Swayze's birthday party, and Camille had Taylor Ruben's party and Lexi's birthday party, and we all went to Pepper's birthday party.
- We had art lessons a couple of times a month with Tenille, like usual. We canceled a few times when we had things going. But the girls liked doing art over the summer.
- I had a girls night with DeAnna and Sarah, going out for Korean food. We went to this amazing place in Orem, and I ate so much food. It was so good! Then to this fun dessert place just across the parking lot. It was overall way too much food! We went to DeAnna's to get in the hot tub afterwards and stayed too late relaxing and talking.
- The kids went to a couple of days of Kimball Camp with Bristal and Ari. They had a great time. Sawyer was the only one that couldn't go because he was too young; and I'm surprised that Brooke still wanted to go, even though she's getting old for it. One of the times, I took Sawyer on his mom date. We went to the curiosity museum together. ❤️
- We had friends over to play sometimes
- I helped with a couple of baby showers: one for Melissa Hiatt, and one for Kimberly Davis
- Daniel and I had a double date with the Pearsons one night. We went out for Thai food, ate a ton and stayed to talk for at least an hour after we were all done eating. We had a great time!
- I went on a couple of awesome hikes with the ladies hiking group in our ward. It was nice to get out and do some hiking, longer hikes without the kids and with some friends.
- The kids had a stake primary activity while I was at girls camp. Sarah took them and picked them up for me. The activity was centered on the Saratoga Springs Temple, and it looked really great.
- In the last couple of weeks of summer before school started, we tried to get a bunch of our summer bucket list done. We drove out to the gas station near Daniel's work building to get slurpies with him. I took the kids to a summer dollar movie one morning. We went swimming as a family one Saturday. I took the kids on a super short hike one morning. It was, like, a quarter of a mile up to this tiny waterfall with a steam and rocks and stuff. We climbed up for 8 minutes, and then played near the stream and on the rocks for like an hour. We did our family water fight.
- Jack learned how to ride his pedal bike this summer!! Daniel went out a few times with him to teach him, and after that, he and I worked on it together during the day a few times. I really pushed him to be able to start without me helping him, which he got quite frustrated about. A couple of times he even said, "Dad is better at this." 😂 But by the end of the summer, he could basically start off by himself, and then he was riding his bike on his own!
- Camille got her expander out this summer. She was so excited and happy to get it out.
- We went swimming a couple of times with friends, the Freis and Christensens.
- We put our slide up on our deck one Saturday, and the kids had a great time all going down the slide a million times. It's so fun to have the side in the yard.
- I took the kids back to school shopping the week before we started school. The kids got new outfits and we got a bunch of cool school supplies.
