 March 3, 2009

Alright now! It’s time to get back into the groove of journal writing. Another entry. Life has been crazy. Being engaged at the same time as going to school is LAME and I don’t recommend it to anyone. I have been doing really well, considering the facts. School is going surprisingly well. I just got done with another set of midterms a few weeks ago, and I’m about to start up on another set this weekend. The last set went fairly well. I got an 89% on my Organic Chemistry exam, which, for the combination of Ochem and myself, is super-awesome. I was really excited about it. I didn’t do well on my Spanish midterm, but we have another one in a couple of weeks on poetry and I’m hoping it will go better. I think it will, I’m slightly better at understanding the structure of poetry than all the symbols of literature.

Wedding plans are going too. I ALMOST have a ring. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned, but Mom and Uncle Bob’s friend, John Beesley, is making our ring, and we just approved the wax mold he made. It took a couple of go-arounds to get what we wanted, but now he’s ready to go ahead and make it. We picked out some colors, too: light pink and aqua. I think it’s fun and pretty. I’m not so sure how Daniel feels about it. We took engagement pictures on Saturday as well. Chaela was our photographer, and we had a lot of fun doing it. Since it’s cold and ugly outside now, we found an old warehouse and the railroad tracks to take pictures. Dan and Chae both had some awesome ideas. Dan and I haven’t seen how they turned out yet, but we’re pretty excited and confident that they’re awesome! …mostly because Chaela told us they are.

Last week was Kat’s birthday. We did a little something for her on her actual bday (cake and presents and watching scenes of High School Musical 3, which we bought for her); but then we did a bigger birthday party on Friday, complete with Thai Ruby and two movies in our apartment. It was a long night, we had a lot of fun. It was our apartment, Alecia and Naomi, from next door.

Saturday, the last day of February, in the evening, Dan and I went to a dinner with some of his family at Five Alls in SLC. It was a dinner with Big John, a cousin, who apparently takes the family out to dinner all of the time and pays for it. This dinner was in Dan and my honor, for getting married. It was fun. The restaurant was a medieval type themed place with five courses and peuter cups. It was great.

This last Sunday, Dan and I went to his family’s house for Aleah’s birthday dinner. Apparently, my parents talked to Dan’s parents the day before, and everyone was pretty jazzed about the wedding. While we were there, we discussed some of the plans and Dan tried to get his dad to narrow down the list of invitations he wants to send. It was a futile effort. I also talked more with members of his family. It’s funny, because it’s almost like now that we are officially engaged, they suddenly all feel the need to be my friends, whereas before…not so much. Maybe I’m just thinking of it badly, but that’s how it seems to me. I feel a little gypped, though.

I feel like I don’t have that much to write, but I don’t think that’s true. A lot has been going on, it seems, what with school and trying to plan a wedding. Did I even write about Valentine’s Day? Or the vacation day we had? Not that anything happened on our day off. Homework and what-not. Not very exciting. I need to get back into the habit of writing, because I forget what I do every day. I don’t even remember what I did 2 weekends ago. That’s sad! I think Dan and I went shopping for engagement picture clothes one of the weekend days. Oh, and we went skiing. But that must wait, because the bell just rang and I have to get to class.

Life is crazy, but good. I need to talk about my goals this semester, too, and how I’m doing on them.
