Uncle Scott's Birthday

...was on Monday, February 16th. He wanted to have a fun day out with the family. He had given the Dunnihoo boys a gift card to the trampoline park where he works, so we all went together. It was pretty fun! Julie, Diane, Mark and I didn't really participate; mostly we just watched the kids play. There were a bunch of different areas of the park, including a kiddy area, dodgeball, basketball, halfpipe, and some others. Brooke stayed in the kiddy park for most of the time, jumping and throwing balls around with Makai, Uncle Scott and Uncle Hou. She had a great time! It was so cute to watch her having such fun and playing with Makai. I got in the kiddy area for a few minutes to jump with her, but she was definitely not as interested in playing with me as she was with Uncle Scott. She left shortly after to go look for him and spent the rest of the time playing with him in the basketball area. I sure got the shaft!

After the trampoline park, we walked over to Red Robin for a birthday dinner. Mom and Dad joined us there. We had fun! It was a little hard, though, having so many people. We didn't really get a chance to connect with everyone.

It seems we have done something every night this week. That was Monday. On Tuesday night, Diane, Julie and I took Dad out on a Daddy-Daughters date. We went to see a late movie together, called Imitation Game. It was a movie about Enigma and how a team of Britains, including Alan Turing, was able to crack it and help to win the war. It was a very interesting movie. We had fun, and I think Dad felt good that we had asked him out. It was technically Mom's idea. Dad has been having a really hard time at work. He is working a lot extra trying to meet deadlines and he is really just having a miserable time. So Mom wanted us to help him feel better. I felt a little ashamed that I'd never thought of it before, to ask him to go do something fun. I think I'll make more of an effort from now on.

When we got home from our movie, Dad had his nightly bowl of ice cream. He saw some fudge sauce in a pot on the stove and dished a generous amount over his ice cream. He took a big bite ... and realized that he had put beef gravy on his ice cream. What's even funnier is that he ate it all anyway! Silly father!

Wednesday night, I believe, was the night the boys went out to see a movie together. We ladies stayed in and painted our nails and watched a movie. Diane got this really cool UV light and special gel top coat polish. She did my toenails one night and my fingernails another. It is supposed to last so much longer than regular nail polish and top coat. And they just look so cute! She brushed them with sparkles before putting the last layer on.

Our days have been filled up mostly with taking care of the babies, chatting, playing games, cleaning up and making food. We haven't done too much, really. Mom hasn't been feeling well all week. I feel kind of badly about it, that the week that we're all here is the week that her hand and neck and knees are bothering her so much. She had a bunch of appointments, too, this week, to help her manage her discomfort and get things taken care of. But Julie and I have been trying to help her as much as possible. We had Owen on Tuesday, because Diane and Hou both had to work. But that wasn't new; Mom always has Owen on Tuesdays.

Brooke has had such a great time playing with her cousins! It is just so cute watching her with Makai. They are seriously the best of friends. They play all day together, they watch Jake together, they hold hands; every time they wake up from night sleep or naps, they always ask for each other right away.

Thursday morning, Diane, Julie and I took Scott on a birthday breakfast date. We went to Morning Glory in Ashland, this quaint little breakfast/lunch place. Their food is SO good! And Scott had never been there. Mom agreed to watch the kids for us while we went; she had all 7 hooligans! We had a great time together, although I think Scott felt a little out of place in our conversations. I mean, really ... it's hard for a bunch of moms not to talk about motherhood or their littles. Haha! Poor Scott! After our delish breakfast, we went to Paddington Station in downtown Ashland. I got some cool jewelry and the COOLEST pajama bottoms ever!

Yesterday Mary and her boyfriend, Austin, came down from school to visit us. Mary had never met Camille, and she wanted to spend time with all the family. Drew and I were in the middle of the most intense game of Stratego at the time, so we didn't really pay that much attention to her, and I felt a little bad. But Drew was seriously stressing me out! Julie and I put dinner on in the midst of putting our kids to bed. And we ended up eating really late. I think we were partially waiting for Mom and Dad, but they had gone upstairs for a little nap.

I'm so sorry. My writing is so bad tonight, but I am so tired. I really just need to go to bed. But I felt like I should write what's been going on this week before I forget.

Anyway, last night after dinner, we left the kids with Gramma and Grampa and went to Coldstone for a little ice cream. And we just hung out and talked all night after we got home.

This morning, Julie's family went back home. It felt so weird not to have them here. So quiet. We really missed them. Brooke kept asking to see "the kids". She still had a fun day, though. There's so much to get into in this house, and new toys to play with. She didn't take a nap, so it was early bedtime; and even then, she cried to herself for a while.

Camille has been astounding the whole family this week. She such a good, chill baby, they were all marveling all week long. Julie couldn't stop talking about it! It was pretty funny. And she really is the best and cutest baby of all time. I really love her and can't get over her.

We finally had Scott's birthday dinner tonight: homemade spaghetti sauce, kale salad, garlic bread, grape sparkle, and truck stop pie. It was delish! And we've just been hanging out tonight.

There is so much junk food and candy in this house. Brooke has been sneaking candy all week. The other day, things were unusually quiet, and I realized that Brooke wasn't playing with the boys and we didn't really hear her or know where she was at all. Julie suggested that she might be where the candy is. So I started looking around. I looked everywhere and couldn't find her. I finally saw her under the table. Sneak-eating candy.

Trip to Medford

After church on Sunday, Brooke, Camille and I hopped in the car, and Daniel rushed us to the airport just in time to check in and get on the plane to come to Medford. It was time for my annual "escape busy season" trip. I wasn't planning on coming this year, on account of I have a new baby and I was nervous about traveling with the 2 girls. But ... Scott is leaving on his mission in April (did I mention he is going to SPAIN?!!?) and I think my mom needs her kids around her right now. She's having a hard time with various things in her life. She REALLY wanted me to come with the girls. So, being a dutiful daughter ( ;) ), I came.

Brooke was so cute. She sang most of the drive up to the airport, including singing almost all of the words to I Am A Child of God. I cannot describe how adorable it was or how my heart just melted hearing that cute, small, sweet little voice singing that song.

The flight was great! No, I'm not lying. Brooke was a truly wonderful traveling companion. We got to the airport with just enough time to check in, get our bags and car seat checked, changed diapers and go to the bathroom, get through security, and saunter on down to the gate. They were already lining up to get on the plane, so we really timed it perfectly. Well, ... not so much us as traffic, of course. We just rushed out the door as fast as we could.

Brooke was pretty excited about being in the airport and getting to fly in an airplane. We played it WAY up, of course. She was excited ... until she realized that it mostly consisted of her sitting still in her seat and being buckled up the whole time. She kept saying how she was stuck. But she was so good on the plane! I was equally grateful and impressed. It helped that I had brought her books to read and lots of snacks to munch on. She was a delight to have with me.

Camille was great, too. I nursed her on the plane about when we were taking off. She didn't fall asleep then; she stayed awake for a little while. And about the time she was getting fussy, I wrapped her up, gave her a pacifier, covered her with a blanket, and she dropped off without any difficulty. She slept for probably half the plane ride, all the way until we had to get her into her car seat in Medford. I just put her in the sling once she was deeply asleep, and she slept and I had both of my arms free to gather up our stuff and get off the plane.

People were really nice to us, too. They thought Brooke and Camille were cute, and they were very patient with us. Once we got out into the waiting area, I just let Brooke run around, and people were loving watching her. We just sat and waited for Grampa to come get us; our baggage came into the round about, and after everyone had gotten theirs, I was still waiting. Some lady grabbed our car seat and brought it to me, which was very nice. I took the car seat, Brooke, Camille, the stroller and our backpacks out to the car, with the intention of grabbing our luggage after I got them situated. But a young man took our luggage and followed me out with it! I was so impressed! It was such a nice gesture.

It was a late night for all of us. Brooke didn't go to bed 'til almost 10pm. We got here and at and fed her, and I concerned myself with getting Camille to sleep, which proved harder than I imagined it would be, after she'd been awake for nearly the whole day. She woke up every time I left, or 10-15 minutes later. Once we got Brooke down for the night, I ate some food, and then Mom, Julie, Diane and I stayed up and watched Mom's Night Out. I basically nursed Camille to sleep and then just put her in the sling and held her to keep her asleep, the entire time we were watching the movie. It worked great. And when I went to put her down later that night, she stayed asleep. Maybe she just needed some more cuddling from Mamma.

The movie was fun and good. It had a great message about motherhood and how important and hard it is. It really hit home.

Valentine's Day

We had a pretty good Valentine's Day. It did not go at all how I wanted it to originally; but that was all okay. And partially (well, mostly) my fault anyway. One of Daniel's gifts to me was that he wouldn't work all day! Best present ever! We all slept in a little, then Brooke and I got up and let Dadda sleep a little longer. We made some crepes (vegan, of course; I found a pretty cool recipe online) for our Vday breakfast, which was really fun.

Then it took me quite a while to get ready and to feed Camille and get her ready. Daniel went ahead and cleaned up the house a little and put laundry away while I was doing that. And by the time we were done, it was almost time for naps anyway. I had wanted to make sugar cookies, decorate them with Brooke and then deliver them to some of her little friends. But, I knew that wasn't going to happen at that point.

We put both girls down for naps and then had some fun together. We opened our presents to each other. Daniel got me a nice card, a little rose plant and a book of coupons that he'd ordered online. And the coupons are cute and fun, and some of them pretty funny! When I get home I'll have to write all of them down! I got Daniel some personalized shirt collar stays. All of his shirt collar stays get lost in the wash, and I've noticed that some of his shirts are missing them altogether. So I bought him some fancy ones with little messages on them. Love messages! I thought it was a fun gift. I don't know exactly what he thinks. He seemed surprised by them, mostly.

After the Brooke woke up, we whiled away the afternoon. Later on, Daniel took Brooke on a walk to the park while I stayed with Camille, who was still sleeping. I packed our bags up while they were gone.

That night, when we put Brooke down and Camille was sleeping, I went out to pick up some Thai food and ice cream. We had our Thailand date that night. When I got home, Daniel helped me set the table and get ready, I made us a fun little specialty drink for dinner, and we ate while listening to some classical Thai music. It was a fun dinner, and I ate WAY too  much. I think if I had to eat any kind of food for the rest of my life and nothing else, I would eat Thai food. I really super love it! And this place where we got the food that night, Siam Rice II, we've been there a few times and their food is just SO good! We tried another Thai restaurant a few weeks ago on a date night, and I don't think it was as good as our favorite little Siam Rice.

Anyway, I read some interesting facts about Thailand, we talked about a bunch of stuff, and had a really good dinner. Then, I didn't have any real plans for after dinner. Well, I had some ideas, but none of them were related to Thailand. And we had a little date crasher, of course. Cutest date crasher ever. So we sat down and watched Pride and Prejudice (not the 6 hour version) and ate ice cream and held/nursed a little baby girl. I really enjoyed our Valentine's Day as a family. I hope Daniel did, too, even though the date I had planned wasn't as exciting as I had hoped.

"Thank You, Mommy!"

The week of Valentine's Day was oh, so busy for me. No really. I had something going every night, except Friday.

Monday night was, of course, Family Home Evening. And I don't even remember what we did that night at this point. Daniel worked a bit later, I think, and then by the time he came home, we had a really quick FHE. I made a really simple and really healthy blueberry cobbler for Family Night treat. It ended up being more like a breakfast cake, in my opinion, which is probably what I'll use it for. It just wasn't super dessert-y to me.

Tuesday night I had Nicole Faucette and Denae Garrison and their kids come over for dinner. I thought that since we are in full-blown busy season mode, it might be nice for all of us wives to get together some nights, let our kids play, have some food, and spend some time. It was pretty fun. We just ordered a few pizzas and I made a big salad for us big girls. And vegan cookies. :) Those were a mistake because they were really hard for me to resist eating. Which I pretty much didn't do. Resist eating them, that is.

Wednesday night was crazy. We had the missionaries over for dinner. I made homemade pita bread (new recipe) and we had pita sandwiches (or what I like to call veggie gyros). They were SO good! I really need to make them again. It's funny, because the way I eat is so different than most people, the missionaries usually get fed some very different foods than they're used to. They always say, "Wow, this is so different! I've never had anything like this before!" But I hope they appreciate it a little. I mean, it must get old eating the same things over and over. A little difference might be nice. I hope.

After the missionaries left, I jetted on down to the church for my first presidency meeting with the new presidency. It was nice. It went long, but that's to be expected, as we are discussing new things, getting to know each other a bit and trying to figure out how we are all going to work together. I am quite excited to work with this new presidency. They are all really awesome, amazing women. I'm sure I can learn a lot from them.

Thursday night was another crazy. I took the car that day because I had errands to run and presents to buy. There was a baby shower for Brandy Gardner, a new sister in our ward (actually she's been in our ward for several months at least, but she was on bed rest while pregnant with her little boy, so we didn't see much of her; and then she had her baby, so we still don't see much of her). I made one of my favorite appetizers for it, Artichoke Walnut Crostini, one of Chloe's recipes. Everyone loved it! I got several requests for the recipe and ended up sharing it on our RS facebook page so I would only have to do it once. I couldn't stay long at the shower because I had made an appointment to get my hair cut with Bri Oborn, one of the sisters I visit teach. I'm really glad I had her do my hair; I feel like it's been hard to get to know her and connect with her, even though I have been her visiting teacher for several months ... probably coming up on a year, actually! She's just so busy and out of town a lot that it's hard for  me to get in to see her, let alone become friends. You know? But it was so good, because it took a couple hours to do my hair, and we just talked and bonded and what-not. I felt pretty good about it. And ... I love my haircut!

Friday was just about the only day of the week that Daniel could stay at the office and work some overtime, so that is what he did. Oh, I guess he did work late on Tuesday, too. But every other day this week he's had to come home and watch the girls so I could do what I needed to do. Anyway, I obviously worked on Valentine's Day plans, folded laundry, cleaned up the house a bit and started preparing for our trip.

Brooke has been so cute and polite lately. She's always saying "Thank you, Mommy!" And she says cute things like, "I like you!" and "I love you, Mommy!" The other day, she was eating breakfast (or maybe it was lunch) and I got up to do something. She turned around in her chair, and said something with her mouth full, which I, of course, couldn't understand. I told her to eat what was in her mouth and then talk to me. When she finally did, she said, "You look so pretty, Mamma!" It was so cute! She just melt my heart!

She's started calling me by my first name, which is in equal parts cute and not cute. I don't want her to get into the habit of calling me Leslie, because I don't think it's right for little kids to call their parents by their first names. It's less respectful in my opinion. Plus, these littles are the only ones that get to call me mom, and I want them to call me mom. Anyway, I always correct her and say, "Brooke, you call me mom." She always says, "Okay", but then later she'll call me Leslie again. I never get after her about it; but I'm sure if she keeps it up long term, I probably will at some point. Anyway, one day I said to her, "Brooke, what's my name?" and she said, "Mom!"

Another funny Brooke-ism:

I was telling her what I needed to do before I could sit and play with her. I was getting ready to go on a trip and I wanted to have laundry and floors done, plus I had to do some other things. I said to her, "I need to do my chores and clean up!" She looked at me and replied, "Don't worry, mom! I'll help you." I just about died.

We Have a Roller!

Camille rolled for the first time (I don't count those few times she rolled on the couch... it was sloped) on January 29th. Brooke and I were sitting in the chair in Brooke's room reading a book, and Camille was on a blanket on the floor, and I kind of saw out of the corner of my eyes as she turned from her back onto her side and then just flipped over. It was so exciting and fun! She's 3 months old, so it's a lot earlier than I was expecting, and much earlier than when Brooke did. Now it's funny because she's pretty good at rolling from back to belly now, but then when she gets on her belly, she endures and tries to turn over again, but then can't and starts fussing. She really needs to get that down. It'll become a problem with sleeping soon. The other day, she was napping swaddled, on a blanket on the floor of our closet, and she rolled over in her sleep and woke up very upset. She was swaddled and still rolled over! Uh-oh. :) I think this girl is going to be a mover!

Camille is so cute and funny. She is really ticklish. I've already mentioned how she giggles when I get her dressed and such. Once when I was bathing her and trying to wash her neck, she started laughing hard. And now I try to tickle her and she tenses up and does some agitated giggles and squirms. It's too funny! We love how smiley and happy she is!

When we were shopping the other day and I had Camille in the little carrier, she fell asleep sucking her fingers. She had found them! And it was like how I used to suck on my fingers when I was a baby! She had the middle and ring fingers of her left hand, upside down in her mouth. It looked supremely uncomfortable, but we just went with it. She seemed to enjoy it.

Brooke still loves to play with her blocks and Dolly. But her newest favorite thing has been getting into stuff! Like, a lot! It's getting a bit out of hand. The other day she got into some paints. Yes. Paints. And it ended up, not only on her hands and clothes, but also on the carpet. It's time for some serious toddler-proofing of this house. But that kind of re-organizing work is slow going; here a little, there a little.

She also got into the spice drawer and dumped some of my spices completely out, into a container, so it was fairly easy clean-up. But still. She's been getting really into messing with our games. She takes the cards out and plays with them. And puzzles, too. It's time to put the games out of reach. She's just getting so busy! She loves watching tv, too. She asks to watch movies all the time, and I kind of have to rein her in. Jake and the Neverland Pirates is her favorite right now. But she also loves Frozen, Tangled, The Little Mermaid, and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Road Rally. She's loving running around and playing with balls, blowing bubbles outside and drawing with sidewalk chalk. Sometimes she still wants to help me when I'm doing chores. But a lot of times when I ask if she wants to help, she says, "No, I'm doing                       (insert some mischief here)!"

She still loves to read books. Her favorite is the Princess Bedtime Stories one that Daniel bought her for Christmas. I was skeptical about it at first, just because it seemed too old for her. The stories are longer than her attention span usually is, and there aren't a ton of pictures. But we read that book constantly. It's the only one we've really been reading since we got it a month and a half ago. And she's always carrying it around with her. She especially loves the Ariel stories. We have read them so many times, we pretty much have them down by heart. In fact, the other day, we were sitting on the floor in her room, and she was "reading" her "Ariel book" and saying exact phrases from the very story she was open to! It was so funny! She loves reading new books, too. Whenever we come home with a new book, she's fascinated for a little while. Daniel came home from Costco last night with a whole bunch of Berenstain Bear books, so I suspect we'll be reading them a lot over the next month or so. But her enthusiasm over new books is never greater than that of her "Ariel book". There's just something magical about it. :) Daniel says he really likes that book because the stories are fairly calm. There's no high drama, people saying rude or unkind things, or any of that kind of thing. They are just nice little easy and fun stories.

Lots of Things

It's amazing how time gets away from you. I logged on today and realized that I haven't written in over 2 weeks. It's way overdue. And it's been on my list to write all week, but ... you know.

We've had a fairly busy couple of weeks. Last Tuesday, January 27th, Daniel had invited his primary class, the 11-12 year olds, and his team teacher, Brother Alonso, over for a little class get-together. We built a fire in our fire pit and roasted hotdogs and marshmallows. We had a good time with the kids, getting to know them. And they loved playing with Brooke and Camille ... well, the girls did, that is.

On Thursday evening, January 29th, we went to the annual firm dinner at the country club in Valencia. We were a bit late because of babysitting/feeding the baby issues. It always takes a little longer to get out the door than it used to. But it was a nice evening away. We had a good time visiting with everyone; and Diane had brought her new little baby boy, just a few weeks younger than Camille, and he was so cute and fun! I thought it was hilarious, too, that Bob, one of the partners, sat next to me and not very subtly started trying to convince me that we needed to stay in Santa Clarita and that Daniel was really needed at the firm. He is on the school board, and he started talking to me about how great the schools here are. And then he went on to rave about Daniel, saying how great he is, such a good worker, all of these things that I clearly already know about him (but it's still nice to hear. :) ). He said that he's going to get some new clients for Daniel to work on, auditing type jobs (which is what Daniel told them that he wanted to do). I think Bob was trying to be subtle about it, but it was fairly obvious that he was trying to convince the little wife that her husband needed to stay with his firm. It was pretty funny to us.

Our car was done being fixed on Friday, sometime in the morning, so Daniel came home for lunch to have me drop him off to pick it up. Later that night, I was frantic trying to get everything done. The Halls were coming to dinner, and I was making them something delicious and vegan (because Brother Hall is always teasing me about being mostly vegan), but I was missing a few ingredients. And there were many pieces to the dinner I was making. I started cooking after Brooke's nap, around 3pm, and worked on dinner for the rest of the night, basically. And then, of course, the little ones had to be taken care of, the baby fed and slept all the time, Brooke fed and kept out of trouble. On top of which, the house is nearly constantly messy. Aaaanyway ... I ran to the store once Camille woke up, ran back to feed Brooke, continue dinner and get her ready for bed. All the while, Camille is a bit fussy, because I woke her up and now she's hungry ... and I'm already really late with dinner ...

It was stressful. And I realized that while I'm making this grand dinner to impress people, I'm letting my family suffer, in a way, and fend for themselves. It wasn't really fair to them. And I felt bad.

Daniel came home to help, put Brooke to bed; I fed the baby, kept working on dinner. Dinner was fine. The Halls were nice. I'm not sure they really liked what I made. Oh well. Whatever. I don't have to justify the way I eat to everyone I meet. I rather like it. It definitely wasn't worth all that went into it, though. And poor Camillie, crying at me because she's hungry. :(

I got a new calling last weekend. Sunday, our Relief Society presidency was released. And I was put into the new presidency ... as secretary. It didn't come as a huge shock. I went on quite a long walk on Saturday, anticipating and contemplating a meeting with Ryan Haslam (one of the counselors in the bishopric). And while I walked and thought, I was speculating, and for whatever reason, I kept thinking that I was going to be called to be secretary. I kept shoving the thought aside, just thinking about all the other people who would be so much better at it, and also chastising myself for being so, I don't know, lofty? Prideful? But still kind of thinking that that's where I was going. And then, lo and behold, Brother Haslam called me to be RS secretary. No. It didn't come as a shock. More of a relief, though. I would rather be secretary than 2nd counselor in charge of activities. Being in charge of activities was certainly not my forte. And my rather simple style created some inward conflicts when I saw others going way above and beyond for a 3 hour activity.

Mindy Fox is the new Relief Society President; Kristin Hill is 1st Counselor; and Allison Leishman is 2nd Counselor. And though I'm sad that I won't see Lynn Lamb on a regular basis anymore, or Brynn or Belinda, I'm so excited to work with such wonderful women! And to learn from them!

I also taught Relief Society that Sunday. It was a bit ... different ... our Relief Society meeting. Just with one President going out and a new one coming in. Things weren't as put together as usual. But that's completely understandable. And my lesson went just fine. Mostly I had put together a bunch of questions for the sisters to answer to create and discussion. And they sure did answer and discuss. That's the wonderful thing about teaching RS. You don't have to put SO much into lessons every time you teach, because you know that they are just going to talk a bunch and basically teach it for you. :)

Anywho, I went to visit Siv Flick after church, one of the women I visit teach, for January, even though it was already February 1st (actually, she kind of asked me to come visit and count it for January, and since I was already feeling guilty for missing her last month ... due to my own ... whatever, I was grateful that she was so forward about it. Plus, I always like/dislike visiting her). It was a little hard, this visit. I brought them some of my frozen milk, which they are ever so grateful for, as am I -- that someone can use it. But they just have such family issues, sometimes it's hard for me to be around. Because I want to help and fix, but I can't. And I have my own ideas of what they need to do, but am very obviously an imperfect and partial judge. Part of it, too, is that I love Siv and think she's wonderful, and I don't like seeing how her family and many people in our ward treat her. Because it's usual not what she deserves.

This last week ... is a bit of a blur, actually. I did the mom thing, of course. Camille wasn't sleeping well during the day this week, which was a bit frustrating. And Brooke didn't take a nap for a couple days in a row either, inexplicably. Which is very frustrating to me, because she still really needs naps.

We still had Grampa's car this week (we were going to take the car down last Sunday, but my visit was quite long and we missed our window); so on Wednesday, Brooke, Camille and I got ready to go, and then went shopping, ran errands and visited Dadda at work. We went to Wal-mart to get a few things and I took Brooke to get some lunch at McDonald's. I know. Not a great choice, and I have been relying on fast food too much lately when we go out. But I knew we wouldn't have time for her to eat before nap by the time we got home. Plus, I had Camille in a little over the shoulder carrier, and she'd fallen asleep. It was perfect timing; Brooke ate lunch, right there in McDonald's and Camille was getting a little nap in. We ran to Old Navy to make a return and then went to Daniel's office. They were happy to see the kids, those who were actually there. Brooke has serious issues leaving Dadda, though, once she sees him in the middle of the day. She cries and fusses a lot. It's almost not worth going to visit. She is SUCH a Daddy's girl, though Daniel tries to deny it. She loves him so much. And even though it's hard not resent it a little, who can blame her?

Thursday afternoon, Nicole Faucette and Lynn Halladay were hosting a cookie decorating party at the park down the street, so we went. It was one of the days that Brooke didn't take a nap and Camille wasn't napping well either, so I thought, "What the heck. I might as well, if no one is going to sleep like they're supposed to." They were both exhausted, too. It was little sad. I put Camille in the Moby and hoped that she would fall asleep on the walk to the park. No such luck. Brooke didn't really decorate a cookie; mostly I smeared some frosting on a cookie and she just ate it. She took a LONG time eating it, and then asked for another, at which point I told her to go play. There were a ton of people there that day! Almost all the young women with kids in our ward, and some from other wards, came. It was kind of hard to keep track of Brooke, especially when I was focusing on helping Camille to fall asleep and talking to other moms. But, even in keeping my eye on her occasionally, I could see how tired she was and she didn't seem to be having much fun. Camille eventually dropped off (thankfully), and someone agreed to help Brooke swing a little. But whoever it was abandoned her to chat with someone else, so she was just sitting in a swing, not moving, not talking or fussing to get out. I helped her out, but she sort of just walked around in a haze. She asked another mom for sand toys to play with, but we hadn't brought any. She ran around with little kids for a while, and sort of played on the playground, but I think she was a little wary of it because of her fall.

Anyway, we left when other people started leaving. I probably should've left earlier, but I kept getting stuck in conversations with people. I'd turn to leave and someone else would walk up. Poor Brooke! She was so tired! We went home, and played and ate for a bit, and then I put her to bed a little early. It was a rough night for her, though. She woke up a few times and fussed for a while.

That night, Lynn Lamb and Brynn Candell came over for a little final get-together. Lynn brought a delicious lemon cake (it ended up being my dinner ... didn't really have much time to eat ... ) and a gift for each of us, and we just chatted for a little bit. It was nice. And when they left, the girls slept pretty well for me and I watched Castle and worked on a project.

Friday night, Daniel took me on a hot date. We went to a new Thai place for dinner, made out in the car, and then went back to our community to hang out in the hot tub for a little bit. We had Hadley Delhoyo (a new girl in our ward) come babysit, and Brooke was in bed when she got here (no nap, you know), but Camille gave her a bit of a rough time, I think. She said Millie was a little fussy and didn't sleep much. She didn't sleep much for us, either, after we got home. It was a nice date, though, really sweet of Daniel to take me out, even though he's busy right now. He's my favorite.

Yesterday was not very exciting. We mostly hung out at home. I worked out a bunch, finally finishing the arm challenge. Whew! I'm glad that's behind me. I couldn't finish it on the last day of January like I was supposed to because my back, right behind my shoulder blade, was very painful. It hurt to breath deeply, sneeze, move in certain ways. So I'm glad I could finally finish the challenge.

Daniel took Brooke shopping last night while I stayed home with Camille, hung out and watched tv while I let her sleep in my arms. I was just trying to get a good nap in for her. She's been a little difficult that way lately. Although right now, she's been sleeping up on my bed for a good long time while I write. I'm staying home from church today with the girls because Brooke is still coughing and sick. Daniel stayed with Brooke last week, but he's teaching today, his little primary class, and I'm not really needed at church today.

After we got Brooke to bed last night, and I attempted to put Camille to sleep, Daniel and I stayed up watching part of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and snacking. It took a long time to get Camille to sleep; she kind of hung out with us for a big part of the night, sitting in her bouncy chair while we watched (and I crafted). It was nice to let go and relax a bit together.
