The beginning of October was mostly just finishing up all the projects we wanted done before the baby got here. And at this point, so far past that time and with me being all sleep-deprived and blurry, I can't even remember what all those projects were. I'm sure there were a few park days in there with Brooke, some tv watching and just general relaxing (because I was tired all the time, being that far along in pregnancy).
Mom rolled into town on the 15th, late in the evening. Our baby was due on October 16th. The due date came ... and went. We had all kinds of things to do. I had a Stake Relief Society meeting on the 16th that I went to. All the ladies there were asking when I was due, and they all seemed shocked that I would show up to a meeting on my due date. And I was kind of like, "Why wouldn't I show up? I'm clearly not having a baby right now, so I don't have much else to do."
Our ward had a Halloween Trunk or Treat party on that Saturday after Due Date. Brooke went as Little Miss Muffet, a costume I wore when I was her age! She looked SO cute! Mom had bought her a little spider to take with her, and she was just too cute for me to handle. Daniel went in a blow up "Personal Trainer" costume we had bought a while ago. And I just wore my little skeleton maternity shirt. It was a fun party, but I was a little out of sorts. It was a couple days past due, and being at the party just reminded me how I didn't want to be at that party. How I'd rather have my little baby! And, of course, people kept coming up and talking to me and asking how things were and saying things like, "Oh, I was so hoping we wouldn't see you tonight" and "So ... you are still around, huh?" And then on top of that, I was just kind of tired, and Daniel had planned to have one of his coworkers come over after the party. It was just an off night.
The dinner with his coworker, Tara, and her sister ended up being kind of fun. We made tin foil dinners. Daniel built a fire in our firepit outside, we assembled some delish dinners, and chatted. They asked all kinds of questions about us and how we met and our families and such. Daniel thinks it'll be good for Tara to see happy family life; she apparently has been kind of in awe at how her coworker's families are.
In the days leading up to Baby Girl's birth, Mom, Brooke and I just sort of hung out. We went to the park some, we went shopping some, we watched tv and relaxed. We all went to lunch on Due Date. We met up with Daniel at Pizza Rev and had lots of fun. Daniel and I even got to have a little date on Friday, the 17th. We had dinner at our fave Thai restaurant, went to work on our little ceramic things, and went to see "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day", which was a really fun movie.
I had all kinds of appointments for the next few days, in preparation for the baby coming. The doctor that I had seen at my last visit (before my due date), Dr. Tuso, was the doctor I saw on my due date. And the one I saw on the Monday after my due date. They did a couple of non-stress tests on me and the baby, measuring the heartbeat and contractions and making sure that everything was going okay for the little one. On Sunday night, I was having some contractions. They were more intense and painful than any of the contractions I'd been feeling up to that point. So I was kind of thinking she was going to come that night. But the contractions, though painful, were not very regular or close together. I didn't sleep well that night. I kept being woken up by contractions. They were only coming every few hours, but that still made for a broken night's sleep.
